Hyderabad: Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi celebrated his 51st birthday in a glittering bash on Tuesday with hundreds of fans thronging his Hyderabad residence just to catch a glimpse of their favourite star.
Not surprisingly therefore that it looked a scene straight out of a movie - gyrating dance moves and a sea of crowd. For many Telugu cinema lovers, Chiranjeevi is almost like a demi-god.
"I watch all his movies, first day first show,” a 12-year-old Chranjeevi fan, Vijay Kumar said.
The 51-yr-old Padma Bhushan awardee is also among the highest-paid Indian actors.
In fact, there were near stampedes at city’s cinema halls during the release of two of his famous movies - Gangleader and Tagore.
In a career spanning 28 years - Chiru as he's fondly called - has starred in over 150 films and his latest release Stalin is set in the backdrop of the Kargil War.
"He has his unique style. He can be compared to Marlon Brando and Tom Cruise," said a fan.
Chiranjeevi's phenomenal following became evident with the massive fan turnout and he can arguably be compared to the other southern film legends like M G Ramachandran and Rajnikanth.
